Rub-a-dub-dub, four nabes on a couch
It’s well into 2011 and I have not written one post. Ugh.
I could launch into all the reasons, but I’d rather just pick up and tell you about highlights, developments, and what lies ahead…
For one, last September, my roommate Amanda and I began to get to know our next door neighbors, or nabes, as we like to call them: Dev and Rachow. At first we weren’t sure what to make of their straight-forwardness and attempts to hang out. But one late weekday night, I was doing some yoga in my living room before bed, and heard one of my favorite songs being blared from their pad – “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. Wow, I thought. They must be cool after all…
Needless to say, the next day, I went over and told them about our common love for the song, and they invited me to watch Jep – better known as Jeopardy – with them, like they did every night.
I let Amanda know the development and before we knew it, we were the four best friends that you’ve ever seen – a four person wolf pack, you might say. And in fact, tonight, they gave us the best present possible – a key to their apartment!
So it really all began with Jep with the nabes…”Rub-a-dub-dub four nabes on a couch!”
And over the past few months, we’ve had too many inside jokes, nights out on the town, snow days, joint apartment parties, delicious family meals, steams, Kenny Powers’, work outs, sing-a-longs, WOAs, cuddle sesh’s and Jeps to count, to name a few things. And we’ve all been blessed with the fact that after a long day of work or school, we get to come home to each other. This has been a pleasant surprise and adventure all in itself. Not a day goes by where I don’t try to remind myself of the gift that it is, and that I need to enjoy this situation and these absolutely hilarious friends. If nothing else, I know that I will laugh every day. And I hope that someday you have the privilege of meeting them too, or joining us in all that makes 11J-K what it is.
It’s true – “Home is whenever I’m with you!”
Alongside this great nabe adventure, has been another one that has taken me by surprise since mid-November. And that would be romantically speaking…Chad :-)
Now I’ve dated some through the years, but haven’t had anything like this in about four…and to be frank, that one was a complete disaster. So it is definitely a new adventure in every sense of the word. But this has been the easiest, most natural thing I’ve ever done. And we’re having a blast.
It’s a long and quite humorous story that has been in the making for three years! Maybe I’ll tell it here sometime. But recently, we’ve had a few awesome months together, living only three hours apart. But as of a few weeks ago, he is in California before spending the summer as a tour guide in Alaska. But I literally JUST packed my bag, because tomorrow I fly out for a five day visit and my first ever trip to California. I CANNOT WAIT!!! ;p
In about two weeks I will ALSO be going to Haiti for the first time with Water.org, three top YouTube vloggers, and my good friend and co-worker, Laura.
Alaska is a must at some point this summer, as well as Memphis, Colorado, some camping and float trips…who knows what else!
So the blogging restarts here, NOW. I am excited to share the coming travels with you dear friends and family. It feels good to be back :)
